Levi's First Easter

Levi's first Easter was so much fun! The Easter bunny came to visit Levi and left lots of goodies! Then we all went to church, visited Grammy and Pawpaw (Linda and Gary) and then had lunch and hunted Easter eggs with Nana Anna, Papa John, Mawmaw, Poppy, and all of the aunts and uncle Ken and Roxyanna. We has so much fun playing outside... Levi loves being outside! :)

Levi's first Easter basket. It included: a bunny, boogie wipes, socks, bibs, veggie tales dvd, and a book. :)

He really liked his book!! ;)

Levi's reaction to having his book taken away...
We gave the book back.

First time eating baby food!!!

Ever since Levi has gotten sick (2 months ago) he has not really gotten a sleep schedule back. When I moved him into his crib at 5 months he woke up a good bit... like 4 or 5 times on average. Some nights I would be able to get him to go back to sleep and only nurse him twice but most of the time, I had to nurse him at least three times and get out of bed at least once to get him back to sleep. So, I decide to give Levi food food in hopes that it will help him sleep. The doctor that we visit told us to wait until he was six months but we felt like Levi was ready for real food. So, I made sweet potato baby food Friday and gave it to him Saturday. (I got a Baby Bullet as my Christmas present.) I loved making his food!! The sweet potato cost $ .50 and I made 9 servings; a jar of baby food cost $ .63 per a jar...

Here are a few pictures to document his first baby food experience. He did really great! :)

Ready to try some sweet potatoes!

After his first taste....

The end result... He seemed to really enjoy it!!! :)

Let me go ahead a say it now... Levi looks like Rickey. I know a lot of people, us included, could not decide who he looked like when he was a newborn. Now, I am certain he looks like Rickey! :)

Easter at Daycare

Today was the Easter egg hunt at daycare.

After not sending anything for Valentine's Day, I knew that I needed to send something for Easter. So, in my mind I planned to stop by Dollar General Wednesday before going to get Levi and then make some sort of Easter treat later that night... Well, the best laid plans right?!? I ended up forgetting all about the treats until about 5:30 Wednesday evening. I was in the middle of cooking supper and really didn't need to leave yet so I said I would wait. Finally at 7:00 I remembered again and called my mama to the rescue! She looked at the Easter treat that I wanted to make, via Pinterest, and went to Dollar General to get the supplies. While she and Rickey made the Easter treats I fed Levi. I think that worked out perfectly!! ;) The only thing left for me to do was put the cute little treats into baggies!

The Easter treats were rice krispy treats and jelly beans made to look like a nest and eggs....

And here is the cutie that Nana and Daddy worked so hard for on those treats!

Cereal for supper?!?!

At Levi's 4 month doctor visit the doctor told us that we could start giving him cereal mixed with breast milk to help him sleep through the night. He also said that there is really no other reason to give him the cereal except to help him sleep; he has been gaining weight and had already doubled his birth weight at four months. So, we tried it and he woke up four times each night. I tried for three nights with same result so we stopped and decided to try again later.

Now, three weeks later we have tried again. It is really not helping him sleep any but I want him to learn to use a spoon before we start real food. So far he is doing great! He has learned to eat from the spoon and a sippy cup. We give him the cereal while we eat supper so we are all eating together!! :)

A few pictures from the first successful "supper" together...

Apparently it was so good he had to lick the bowl!! ;)

Levi - 5 Months

Levi at five months:

  • Weighs 18 lb
  • Is 27 inches long
  • Eats 6 oz when he takes a bottle. (He still takes two bottles at daycare.)
  • Started eating 2oz of cereal each night. He eats it out of a spoon and out of a "sippy cup".
  • Still wakes up twice each night (usually).
  • Sleeps in his crib in his room! This JUST started last night. He did absolutely terrible!!! He woke up (and got nursed) SEVEN times!!! Tonight we will be trying the sound machine... I knew he needed to start sleeping in his crib instead of the nap nanny because he was getting too big to fit in it. He would not sleep in the pack and play because it moved around too much. That left our bed or his bed. I have let him sleep with us a few times and I loved it!! Everything I needed was right there so I could basically sleep while he ate. BUT, I knew that if I started letting him sleep in our bed, he would never go to his own bed. So, that left his bed. It also helps ease my mind that we have the Angel Care monitor that monitors his breathing.
  • His favorite toy is currently his feet! He plays with them all the time, especially during bath time. He puts them in his mouth and chews on his toes. If he has socks own he pulls on the socks until they come off. It is really too cute!! :)
  • He can move the walker around the room without us helping him.
  • We have moved the level on the jumper up twice this month. He is so long and tall!
  • Has started reaching for everything and putting it in his mouth!!! :) He is even reaching for us when we go to pick him up! Melts. My. Heart. :)
  • This week is Spring Break and we have absolutely LOVED being at home!! Levi and I go outside numerous times during the day to walk and play with Duke. We play inside in the jumper, walker, and on the floor. I love watching him learn new things! :) He is so active!!

He really is the sweetest thing! :)
